A good long ride

Today's ride was the longest yet. 58 miles. A couple of steep hills and some nice easy stuff as well. Not bad for a little less than four and half hours. I plotted a nice route up past Flemington keeping on the plateau NW and then going down to the river. The there was a gentle rise up to Solberg airport and very steep climb back up into Sourland Mountain. Then it was a simple ride along the ridge to get home.

All before lunch time!

And it was a good day to ride too! Not too humid. Not too hot. I am glad a got the ride in because I will be at a conference next weekend and then to a family vacation until the last week of the month.

The nice thing was that, even though I was tired after the ride, my legs were not terribly sore. Of course it will be a couple of days before I get to ride again, so I will have to wait until later this month before I do a couple of long rides back to back to see how that feels.

In the meantime I need to get the bike tuned up. I've taken it over 600 miles so far this summer and about 800 since the last tune up.
